Sustainability, Health, and Wellbeing

The theme that runs throughout the development is sustainability. The thoughtful design includes both technical, environmental and operations features which are all intended to provide the best possible experience for their tenants on both a human and financial level.

Not only is the cycling infrastructure (bike parking,

Somerset House

Somerset House is a new kind of arts centre in the heart of London, designed for today’s audiences and creatives.

Offering a diverse and dynamic public programme of contemporary arts and culture, it is also a home to a large community of creative businesses, artists and makers, including Somerset House Studios. One of the city’s most spectacular and well-loved spaces, it is a place where art and culture is imagined, made and experienced by our 3 million visitors every year.

Despite Somerset House being built well before bicycles were invented, it boasts a very impressive cycling culture with 9% of occupants expected to cycle. Although there is the need for some improvements, it is very evident that a considerable amount of effort has gone into making cycling one of the main methods of transport when visiting Somerset House.

The result of the above is that we at Cycling Score have rated Somerset House to be a Silver rated building and over the next 2 years will work with Somerset House to attain a Gold or Platinum rating next time round.
